Born in Palermo, he studied with Paride Venturi and went on to refine his
skills at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala and the Accademia Verdiana
in Busseto. He has performed in major Italian and international theaters,
including La Scala in Milan, the Arena di Verona, Maggio Musicale
Fiorentino, Opera di Roma, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro San Carlo in
Naples, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Opéra de Dijon, Royal Opera House
Muscat, NCPA in Beijing, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. His wide-ranging
repertoire includes Les pêcheurs de perles, Manon, La
Bohème, Il barbiere di Siviglia, L’Elisir d’amore, Turandot,
Falstaff, La Traviata, Don Giovanni, La
Cenerentola, Madama Butterfly, and Simon Boccanegra.
He has worked with conductors such as Muti, Chailly, Dudamel, Pappano, and
Chung, and with stage directors including Zeffirelli, Ronconi, McVicar,
and Livermore.
